Self compassion – how much do you have?
I had a moment today followed by a bit of an epiphany that I wanted to share with you in case you are like me and prone to ‘beating yourself up’ for things you don’t do, or things you felt you could have done better etc etc…..
Monday is one of my regular Bikram Yoga days. I was doing some work on my business and I started to get a headache and I was really tired, so guess what my brain did…?
It started giving me all these reasons to NOT go to yoga and have a day off. I ALMOST fell for it too….! I thought to myself, “yeah ok you’re not feeling well, so maybe give it a miss today, you can go on Wednesday instead”.
WELL, luckily about 15mins before I was due to leave, I had a sudden realisation that I should just GO and that I’d feel better for it, so that’s what I did.
Afterwards, OF COURSE I felt great, and I’m so glad I dragged myself there ?
Times like this…
But it got me thinking that THIS MOMENT is my chance to pat myself on the back or give myself a high five. I should be REWARDING myself for going along to yoga, but so often I think we find ourselves in these situations and we tend to beat ourselves up for almost NOT going instead of focussing on what we DID DO WELL.
So that is my challenge to myself for the next week, is to actively LOOK for opportunities to pat myself on the back for the good things I AM doing and try to brush over the ‘beat myself up’ moments and ignore them.
Who’s with me? Let’s make this week – GO ME Week…..!!
