Does feeling overwhelmed happen quite often to you in life and if you’re a highly sensitive person who is also an extrovert I’m going to predict that feeling overwhelmed is a very common occurrence in your life?
Do you have those days when you have a combination of great ideas, and you’re so motivated to do it all? Have you noticed what your brain is doing? It’s fighting against you and you end up feeling overwhelmed…
If you’re an HSP (Highly Sensitive Person), you will probably experience this often as it is one of the traits we have.

Often times, when we try to do everything at once, it doesn’t work. And the main reason is that our human brain is lazy and it shuts down when it identifies that too much energy is required.
So trying to do it all at once is not helpful. This doesn’t mean that you’re not going to execute your ideas. Having great ideas is good, but doing it all at once is when the disaster happens.
Here are the 3 Simple Process you may follow when you are in an overwhelming situation.
- Increase awareness
- Take a step back
- Revisit and remove
To increase your awareness, you must learn to recognize your individual signs that you are moving into a state of overwhelmed. Pay attention to how you’re feeling. Is your brain overloaded?
Once you’re aware of your situation, come up with an ‘Ideas Folder’ where you write up all of your ideas. Take a look at all of those ideas and choose which ONE you’d like to accomplish first. This way your brain is not getting stressed or overwhelmed about multiple tasks.
Now, it is expected to happen again and again in your life, but if you learn how to deal with it, it’ll be easier for you to deal with overwhelming situations in the future.
